Some are iconic Grand Cafés with lush terraces, on the most convenient locations. Café Luxembourg, serving a top notch ‘Shrimp Croquette’ right in the middle of city centre, next to the main high street.
Café Wildschut in the southern part of the centre, the Museum Quarter, has an award-winning ‘beer terrace’, perfect for people-watching.
Restaurant Café Van Puffelen is a very nice and typical ‘brown café’, but also one of the biggest restaurants of the canal belt.

Goodfoodgroup is represented by quite a few traditional ‘brown cafés’. The intimate Café Gruter proudly pours an extensive collection of craft- and draught beers. The friendly Café Katoen is a must for students and visitors. Café Toussaint serves a lovely ‘come and join us’ surprise dinner. And Festina Lente (hurry slowly) is thé oasis of the canal belt.

Eetcafé de Toog (city centre-west) serves authentic Italian dishes. Restaurant de Struisvogel has a French- organic orientation. Café het Molenpad serves lunch and dinner on a lovely terrace on the waterfront (Prinsengracht). Café Koosje presents a smart and sustainable menu with Mediterranean accents.

Café de Walvis (centre north-west) is known for superior burgers. Café Piet de Gruyter (Staatsliedenbuurt) serves exciting dishes such as sandwich Desire. On the historic Amsterdam Bickerseiland you will find eatery restaurant ’t Blaauwhooft with its unsurpassed cheese fondue. Café Lennep (western centre) has an impressive rotisserie, serving the perfect chicken dishes.
